50,000+ people have registered for IPEX – Have you?

By | May 13, 2010

IPEX 2010 will be in full swing from May 18th to 25th in Birmingham UK – but the trucks have already been rolling in for weeks. Over 50,000 people already registered for the week long event and IPEX has expanded the show floor to accomodate additional exhibitors. Attendees will have the opportunity to see over 1,000 exhibitors from 40 countries all in one very big place. Of course the networking among the exhibitors is also one of the highlights of IPEX and there are sure to be some interesting announcements timed around the event.

Coming halfway between DRUPA 2008 and 2012, IPEX is an important show at an interesting time in the printing industry. With economies and individual corporations around the globe trying to recover, and the role of print in the media mix changing, choosing the print engines, software and finishing equipment that can provide the most flexible infrastructure to support change is more important than ever. There’s no doubt that IPEX is a critical show. But uncertain times in the printing industry, and the cost of sending U.S. visitors “across the pond” will limit the number of Americans attending. By my estimate, probably only 5% of IPEX attendee’s will be from the U.S. The days of print industry execs. jetting around to attend large industry trade shows are (at least for now), over.
